My plan is to blog about every South American experience when I get home on Friday-- or, more likely, on Saturday after I've had ample sleep and recovery-- but we're going at a whirlwind speed and the details are beginning to blur... so here are a few highlights:
- Friday night: tsunami evacuation-- yikes.
- Saturday: toured the neighboring city, Valparaiso; authentic empanadas for dinner (ohmigosh, YUM); tried out the Chilean nightlife... which is actually more appropriately dubbed morning life as they don't even START until 2 am.
- Sunday: went to a neighboring town, Renaca, for an incredible view of the Pacific; had helado (ice cream, but more like Italian gelato, YUM); laid out on the beach and finally put my feet in the Pacific ocean; watched the sun set; went out for sushi
- Monday: Chasley and I braved the bus system alone for the first time to go to the neighboring city, Con Con, to ride horses. Three hours of riding a horse at a full-blown run along the coast of the Pacific. Wow. And last night, unable to move, we stayed in and relaxed.
And now, we're about to head to Casablanca-- not THE Casablanca, much to my disappointment-- for a wine tasting. Wine's not really my thing, but I'm excited about the experience and... well, really, I'm excited about everything because, hello, I'm in South America.
Now, with this outline and maybe another in the days to come, hopefully I'll be able to sort out the stories to tell, even when I'm jet lagged.
Ciao! (Adios means "farewell forever," so they say ciao instead)
