Weekend Update

Friday night kicked off the Marcum Family Funfest Version 2.0 here in Tuscaloosa.
Mom arrived in the afternoon and was followed shortly by Anna-Kate, Rachel, Mallory, and Aunt Deb. We female Marcums headed to one of my favorite dining establishments-- Cypress Inn-- before cheering on the Tigers (well, except for proud Aunt Deb in her stubborn crimson) against Alabama's formidable gymnastics team.
Auburn lost. No shock there, but it was still fun to watch-- and it's always fun to wear orange and blue here on campus.
Post-gymnastics, we headed to Yogurt Mountain, along with all the other gymnastics supporters apparently. Rachel had the misfortune of getting "Original Tart." Sounds like normal yogurt, right? Wrong. So very, very wrong. Expecting plain vanilla, Rachel scooped a spoonful of frozen, curdled buttermilk into her unsuspecting mouth. They weren't kidding about 'Tart.'

Saturday we were joined by the rest of the Marcum clan for a pizza lunch and UA Men's Basketball. We all crammed into my apartment for lunch with lots of old stories and some new. Macy had a little "accident" (she's still not ready to talk about it), and Anna-Kate managed to sustain an injury when a frame fell off the wall and onto her foot (and STILL no one has asked me if my frame is in any way harmed-- it's not, just so you know). But other than those little oopsies, I'd say Family Day 2011 was a success.
Oh, and... to the satisfaction of most of my family, Alabama beat Ole Miss. Yippee.

I should mention too that the family met the new boyfriend Saturday.

Oh yeah, you read that right: boyfriend.

I know, it's weird. Sometimes I say it out loud just to hear it, "Uncle Mark, this is my, um, boyfriend..." and "Hey Al, let me call you back when the boy...friend leaves."

Here's the best part: by the grace of God, I have found an Auburn man right smack dab in the center of enemy territory. Booyah. And he opens the door for me and prays before we eat and tells me I'm pretty and takes out the trash for me... He hasn't changed the oil in my car yet, but we haven't exactly reached 3,000 miles. So yeah... I'm a happy kid on this Valentine's Day.

(Oh, hey Jon, is it cool if I talk about you on my blog? Welcome to my world, dear.)

Sunday, I met friends at church. On the way in, I ran into other friends. And for a few minutes at the beginning of the service I couldn't help but think... Whoa, friends in the parking lot, friends waiting inside... is it possible that I've plugged in here?
After church, I lunched with friends and came home for my Sunday afternoon nap, a much-needed gym sesh (more on my latest inspiration later!), and homework. And then leftover pizza and the Grammy's with the boyfriend (whoa.).

So... it was a really great weekend with my really great family. And on this Valentine's Day, I'm a really happy girl.

  1. Grace shmace. Let's call it what it is: Hinshaw Magic! I'd also settle for "Hinshaw Doing What Hinshaw Does Best" (HDWHDB has a nice ring to it).

  2. I'm glad your frame isn't broken because my foot is.

.....Just kidding. But it really is a little purple and blue.
